2,Tan yr Eglwys is set in the idyllic hamlet of Cilybebyll, a dozen houses and an ancient church on the upland between Neath & Pontardawe. It is just 9 miles from Swansea and the coast., but well located to discover most of S. Wales. Set in fields and woodland, guests can enjoy walks from the door in the countryside and return to a cosy retreat with a log burner. The cottage is the oldest home in the hamlet, but has been carefully renovated to provide all that is required of a modern home whilst retaining some cottage qualities. There is a spacious lounge and dining area, with comfortable seating for up to 5 guests and a log burner to enjoy. This is simply a desirable feature as the cottage is efficiently centrally heated. Alongside the dining area is a small well equipped kitchen area and an adjacent utility room with a second sink unit. The shower and bathroom is on the ground floor and adjacent to the downstairs single bedroom which is invaluable to guests with impaired mobility or don't wish to use the stairs. Upstairs the master bedroom has a king size bed with countryside views. Adjacent is a single room, which has an additional pull out bed for a young family.
A Hi from Helen Lloyd who jointly with my husband Allen will welcome you to Tan yr Eglwys. I have returned to my home area having lived away for much of my career, working in the fashion and textile industry in Scotland and elsewhere in the UK as well as great travel opportunities in many other countries. I have diverted the design training to the upkeep of the cottage and enjoy making suggestions of the best places to visit when guests are here on holiday. Allen is a civil engineer by trade therefore having complementary talents, therefore takes care of the maintenance and keeps the supply of logs going. We love living in a quiet rural area, but with a great road network that allows us to be close to the spectacular mountains, fabulous beaches and towns of South Wales.
