Information about the host

The accommodation is a recently renovated suite on the ground floor of my family home which is a townhouse. There is free street parking and there is an open view to a wooded area with a small stream. There is a paved walkway and cycle path a few yards away. the suite is done to a high standard with modern fittings and fixtures. there is a large double shower. Wi Fi is provided free, Amazon tv with Netflix is also provided free.

I live at the premises with my wife Laura. I am fully retired after working in the Police for 30 years. I have always lived in Edinburgh and over the years I have built up a good deal of knowledge of the area, which I share with my guests to make their stay as pleasant and enjoyable as possible. Laura stills works full time for Cala house builders. I have a son Ross who is 24 years of age and is presently travelling in Australia and will be away from home for the next two years. I also have a dog, Barnie who is a 12 year old Shitzu and a 17 year old cat Ginger.

My home is situated in a quiet residential street, which is populated mainly by professional people and families. There is no through traffic. Free street parking is available. 400 meters from the house is the Brunstane rail stop which is part of the new Borders rail line. It takes 6 minutes on the train into the Waverley station in the centre of the city. The main bus route into the city is a five minute walk, the journey takes about 20 minutes. Portobello beach and the river forth is a 20mintes walk from the house, there are many bars cafes and restaurants in that area as well as local shopping. Fort Kinnaird shopping park is a 10minute walk and there is an Asda super store nearby.
