Looe is a large fishing port with a lively maritime bustle. You can catch the river taxi between East and West Looe. East Looe has cobbled streets, alleyways and plenty of shops, whilst West Looe has an outlook across the harbour. Banjo Pier can be reached from the quay and is a great spot to watch the ishing trawlers and look across the bay to Looe Island, which can be walked to at very low tides. Looe Beach adjoins the pier and is popular with families because of its safe swimming and vast sand. There is also a rock pool area at Hannafore that children will love. West Looe has a discovery centre, and Kilminorth Woods have marked walks through the oak wood, rich in plant and wildlife.
