Balmillig is a new house which looks like an older house and fits well into the extensive conservation area of Helensburgh. Its as 'green' a home & business as we can make it and we know many of our guests appreciate that.
We like providing bed and breakfast and have done so for the last 38 years. We also worked as a Geography teacher (John) and PE teacher (Anne). We like the outdoors and guide in this beautiful area. We enjoy music, art and travel & family.
Our home is centrally situated in Helensburgh, a very special town which enjoys broad leafy streets, amazing gardens and many very interesting and attractive homes. The architectural masterpiece 'The Hill House' designed by Charles Rennie Macintosh is just a short walk away as is the world famous West Highland Railway Line which means you can take a car free trip and enjoy the scenic beauty of Scotland's West Highlands. The delights of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park start just a kilometre away and both the Three Lochs Way and the John Muir Way long distance walking routes pass by Balmillig's front door. Walk 5 mins from Balmillig and enjoy great views over the Clyde Estuary and a rich variety of independent shops, award winning restaurants and the town's Digital Arts Centre that regularly screen movies and live stream world class ballet, opera and drama. You can also explore the sea coast too along the Clyde Sealochs Trail taking the road less travelled to the Rosneath Peninsula and on into Argyll. We love it all!
