Barnabas House is a Visit England 5-star rated award-winning guesthouse set in Dartmoor National Park. Barnabas House is a typical Edwardian villa set on a quiet lane and has been lovingly refurbished. Many original period features remain, including a beautiful stained glass entrance door. Our guest rooms and lounge have their individual character and are of a generous size. We offer free superfast broadband in all areas and rooms, free onsite parking and secure cycle storage. We have a lovely guest lounge with wood burning stove for winter and cooler evenings, and a south facing courtyard garden for guests to enjoy in the summer. We have recently won the Silver award for the Visit Devon B&B/Guesthouse of the year 2020, and a Commended award in the South West Tourism Excellence awards in the category B&B/Guesthouse of the Year 2020/21. Visit England have awarded us their Breakfast award in 2020, as well as awarding us their lifetime ROSE award (Recognition of Service Excellence).

Barnabas House is owned and run by Angela and Steve. We welcome you to enjoy the house. We live on site in the annexe, so we won't get in your way but we are here if you need us. You will be greeted personally by us, shown the facilities on offer, settled into your room and offered tea and cake, and cooked a delicious locally sourced breakfast in the morning. We are keen walkers and cyclists and love having Dartmoor National Park right on our doorstep for our own and our guests' enjoyment.

We are 5 miles from the historic market town of Tavistock, and 8 miles from Plymouth. Dartmoor National Park is on our doorstep with many walks direct from the door, and the beautiful Tamar Valley is close by. We have a great bus service to Plymouth and Tavistock and beyond, Plymouth train station is a bus ride away, and the village of Yelverton has great amenities including pub, restaurant, cafes, grocery store, delicatessen, pharmacy and doctor. We also have several great country pubs within a couple of miles. The Drake's Trail, the West Devon Way and Dartmoor Way are all on our doorstep, as are several National Trust properties. We are very close to Cornwall and the Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan can be driven to easily.
