Information about the host

Betty’s cottage is named after my Mum as this was her home. The cottage is so warm and cosy with amazing views of the Wasdale fellrange. Guests are welcome to use our beautiful garden and patio area. I provide delicious home made bread and little treats for my guests. Betty’s is very dog friendly, we love our furry friends. The cottage is attached to my B and B were breakfast is available (at an extra charge and subject to availability). There are lots of lovely walks from Betty’s and I have provided lots of books and leaflets of the area. We are situated along a quiet country lane with ample parking. The Old School was a C of E school until 1973.

John and I have been in hospitality for over 30 years having run pubs and hotels. I run the B and B and cottage and John looks after our beautiful garden. I love looking after my guests and will go the extra mile to help them have an enjoyable stay. Our TA reviews are excellent and we are very proud of them. We have extensive knowledge of the area and living next door we are on hand to provide any information our guests may need. Bruce our beautiful black lab will greet you with a smile and you may even get a cuddle from our cats Lucy and Louis. Xx

We are located up a quiet country lane with uninterrupted fantastic views of the Wasdale fells. There are a few local pubs within a short drive away and a beautiful little Tearoom and gift shop called Woodlands at Santon Bridge where you can get an all day breakfast, purchase local produce and take away food from their menu. There is also a local delivery (pizza and fish and chips) service. Our local petrol station and Spar shop in Holmrook has a great selection of beers, wines and spirits and produce for your stay. Muncaster Castle is a great day out as is the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway. We are close to Scafell Pike (England’s highest mountain) and Wastwater the deepest lake and Britain’s Favourite View.
