Information about the host

My village house is a little eclectic, spacious, peaceful, pet-friendly (on request), and surrounded by fields and trees. You are welcome to explore the very pretty garden and covered terrace area. If you feel like cooking or preparing a picnic, you are free to use the kitchen and there is an extra fridge in the laundry room. Or, if you prefer, feel free to use the homemade BBQ at the end of the garden, lounge around under the pergola amongst the fruit trees (help yourself) and just pick an interesting read from my much-loved book collection! Although my sitting room is private, there is another one for guests and there is a bathroom and separate shower room; laundry facilities are also provided at a small extra cost.

I am a relaxed, well travelled professional, and have enjoyed living here in Bladon, Oxfordshire for the last 23 years. It is a pleasure to welcome visitors from all over the world and I look forward to meeting you and providing a peaceful base for your trip to Blenheim, the Cotswolds, Oxford and the UK, though please note that my language skills are limited to English and French. I leave my guests to be pretty self-sufficient (I don't cook!) but I am happy to share ideas for favourite places to visit and the best eateries around.

My home is located only a mile from the picturesque Blenheim Palace in Woodstock and a 20-minute drive into Oxford! If you want to explore the Cotswolds, the beautiful city of Oxford or even London, this is your perfect base. There are two nearby train stations with fast (under an hour) direct links into London. The UK main motorway network is a ten-minute drive away (there is free, private drive parking available on request.) But we also specialise in simply being peaceful. The garden overlooks fields belonging to the Duke of Marlborough, the church where Sir Winston Churchill was laid to rest and the Palace itself is visible on the horizon. If you are attending events or even filming at Blenheim, you can walk to the beautifully landscaped grounds from here. The historic town of Woodstock itself is just a 20-minute walk (or a three-minute drive) away where you will find beautiful historic houses, hotels and pubs, a couple of beauty salons, a florist, a delicatessen, a small supermarket, some interesting shops and a few fabulous 'tea, coffee and cake' opportunities! Although there are too many to list, the town has a gentle, friendly feel and plenty of characterful locals...
