Bodnolwyn Wen is a working farm set in the heart of rural Anglesey. The countryside location means that you can walk straight from your doorstep, to our nearby reservoir or to the only working windmill left in Wales. Two log cabins have multifuel burners to heat the property, which gives a romantic cosy feel especially in the winter. The 3rd cabin is heated by gas central heating. This property can only be reached by car or taxi. The nearest shop and beach is about 20 mins drive away. If you want to 'get away from it all' for a few days then this is the place for you.
We have lived here for 30 years, and we have farmed both sheep and cattle. There is also a 5 van caravan club site at the farm and we have welcomed people to Bodnolwyn Wen for 30 years. We have 2 labradors and we enjoy walking them locally around the farm and the reservoir. Visitors can take advantage of this being a very safe place to be, both for children and dogs. There is a large paddock in front of the cabins and you can take full advantage of this to play ball games etc. We take a pride in presenting the cabins beautifully and we always like to be helpful with suggestions of hidden places on Anglesey to visit away from the main attractions (if that's what is wanted).
Apart from country walks and the beautiful nearby beaches, Anglesey offers a host of activities to suit most people. We particularly enjoy motorcycling and Anglesey has its own race track with different motorsport events going on most weekends. We also have the Anglesey County Show in August each year. We also have clay pigeon shooting closeby, and there is a go karting track about 6 miles away. In recent years, the coastal footpath has featured on TV and we get many visitors wanting to use us as a base to walk sections of the 150 mile path round Anglesey. We are always happy to help with transport and arrangements to get your car to the finish point of your walk. Llyn Alaw, which is adjacent to Bodnolwyn Wen, is renowned for its wildlife and birdwatching, although the footpaths can sometimes get overgrown. We encourage people to come well equipped with wellies and waterproofs. These days there are plenty of popular places on Anglesey to ea., The Marram Grass is perhaps the most well known at the moment as Ellis Barrie has recently been competing in the TV program "Great British Menu".
