We moved here from London in 2014 and bought the shepherd's hut in 2016 furnishing it with everything you'll need for a glamping experience with a little bit of luxury. The hut is very cosy with a wood burning stove, and the washroom is heated with a proper hot water shower and flushing toilet. It's a really peaceful place and the garden is sunny and private. Outside facilities feature oak decking and a sheltered pergola covered in jasmine and clematis. You can use the barbecue or firepit here and watch the sun go down over the valley towards the west. Or relax in the hammock under the apple tree and listen to the birds and insects (and often the lambs and sheep in the summer months). We let the grass around the edges of the garden grow naturally in the summer giving that lovely meadowy feel, but there is a mown area where you can sit too. Water comes from a spring and has a sediment and UV filter (quality is tested annually by the council). We have a ladies and a gents bike available for you to use free of charge. The bathroom has been renovated with an electric immersion heater and power shower. A wifi router is available if you need to keep in touch with the outside world!
George is a graphic designer and also provides home made bread if asked. Carol was from Wales originally and is a retired researcher. We both love the outdoor life and the stunning scenery.
There's so much to see round here and there are footpaths from right outside the door. The Sugar Loaf summit is about an hour and a bit's walk away, Bryn Arw is right on the doorstep. Too many other places to mention as the Black Mountains are part of the Brecon Beacons National Park and there is loads to see and do. Crickhowell is 20 minutes away by car and is probably the prettiest town you'll ever see. Abergavenny is only ten minutes away and has a bustling market on Tuesdays and both towns (and the local villages) have many pubs and restaurants as well. You can drive to other parts of the Brecon Beacons - Pen-y-Fan and the waterfalls area are about 50 minutes away. But for those travelling here it is surprisingly easy to get to by car - we less than three hours from West London.
