Information about the host

Cae’r Beili is a 200 year old award winning, detached stone barn, located in a private, peaceful and totally secluded position, yet only a 15 minute walk to the picturesque village of Cilycwm. There are spectacular views of the Tywi Valley, the Cambrian Mountains and the Brecon Beacons and walks from the door including one to a magnificent waterfall. The living room is full of character and charm with high sloping ceilings, exposed roof trusses, beams, a cosy wood burner and oak floors. The hand made oak kitchen, with its black granite worktops, is fully equipped so cooking will not be a chore at Cae'r Beili! The large farmhouse table in the conservatory is a place for coming together. Watch the birds and sheep in the fields nearby or the red kites soaring overhead. Or just spend quality time together watching country life from the comfort of a chair - whatever the weather! When it's time to put your head down, you'll find 3 comfortable bedrooms. A ground floor double with an adjacent bathroom; an upstairs double with an ensuite bathroom; and an upstairs twin room. Wake every morning in your own little piece of heaven. There is a patio and safe, private garden.

Cae'r Beili is cared for personally by Dafydd and Meryl Tomos. Dafydd is a sheep farmer and Meryl is a teacher. Dafydd's family has farmed here for generations so he has great local knowledge and he has contributed his knowledge to several local history books. We always meet and greet our visitors on arrival and are always at hand to answer questions and help you in any way during your stay. Our visitors are always welcome to come up to our farm, to roam our 150 acres and meet our sheep including our rare bred Balwen sheep. We have tried to create and atmosphere of total comfort and relaxation at Cae'r Beili. Every care is taken to ensure our guests’ stay is of the highest standard at all times. And our guests return time and again to enjoy a memorable holiday and experience our very warm Welsh welcome. Cae'r Beili is perfect for family getaways or relaxing with friends; for romantics who want to snuggle up in front of the log fire or be amazed by the stars in the dark skies; for adventurers who fancy exploring; or for seekers of peace who want to unwind and recharge. Cae'r beili is a truly special place. We look forward to welcoming you here!

The village of Cil-y-cwm, has a small friendly pub serving excellent food. The village street was once a drovers’ road and the cobbled watercourses which used to be filled with water for cattle to drink can still be seen today. The village church has fifteenth century wall murals and a yew tree which is at least 1, 500 years old. The Methodist Chapel, built in 1740, was one of the first Methodist Chapels in Wales. The whole area is outstanding for walkers, birdwatchers, bikers and all country lovers. The area is a natural habitat for all kinds of wildlife and flora and it is common to see red kites, kestrels, sparrow hawks and many other birds. There are two RSPB Reserves - Dinas and Gwenffrwd. There are even red squirrels! Mountain biking, road biking, fishing, walking, cycling and golf are all available locally. The area is a designated Dark Sky Area so, as night falls, you'll be astounded by the starry skies above. We are centrally placed to explore Mid, West and South Wales. There's an abundance of castles, historic houses, showcaves, goldmines, gardens, interesting market towns and clean, golden beaches. All you need for a memorable holiday.
