Glenlyon has been described as "Scotland’s most beautiful glen" (Trout and Salmon magazine 2014) and "…the longest, loneliest and loveliest glen in Scotland…" (Sir Walter Scott). Many of our guests stay in the glen and enjoy stunning walks and the Bridge of Balgie tea rooms. For those who want to explore further afield, being in central Perthshire, Chesthill House is an ideal base for exploring the central Highlands and the wonderful walking opportunities it contains. Chesthill House is within 12 miles of Aberfeldy, 20 miles of Pitlochry and less than two hours to Edinburgh. Perthshire has Perth as its county town but most of its heritage and essence can be discovered in and around its other towns such as Aberfeldy, Crieff, Dunkeld, Birnam, and Pitlochry. The county is land locked but crossed by many well-known rivers such as the Tay. It spreads from rich agricultural straths in the east, to the high mountains of the southern Highlands. As such the area is very popular for the beautiful scenery and the abundant flora and fauna.
