Cladh-A-Mhuillinn Lodge is the original gate keepers cottage located in Millhouse where high grade black gunpowder was manufactured from 1839 to 1921. The ruins of the Mill are still visible in the woods nearby. Near the cottage there is a monument to those killed in explosions at the Gunpowder Mill, a small cannon designed to test the powder, and a timekeeping bell. Argyll’s Secret Coast is rich in Highland history, dotted with ruins and and ancient sites and castles. Packed with places to visit and things to do, walkers, cyclists, sailors and artists are all drawn to this area.
