I have been hosting for 2 years now and thoroughly enjoy it, I love meeting new people and showing of my lovely home. I would say I am a sociable and chatty person. I run the home stay with my partner, Paddy, who is very knowledgeable of the local area and great at helping with any transport needs.
The house boast an Instagram worthy subway style bathroom with ethically sourced toiletries and luxurious bamboo toilet paper. We aim to be as sustainable as we can and constantly look at ways to reduce our environmental footprint. Our latest change has been to switch to Iron&velvet zero packaging cleaning products, which we adore. The decor in each bedroom has been carefully thought through. There is a colourful Bohemian double room, exploding with plants and colour, guaranteed to brighten spirits on even the wettest of days. There is then a spacious and calming Scandinavian room with a glamorous walk in wardrobe for that added touch of luxury when preparing for a big night out in the ‘Diff.’ The house is home to our pet dogs, Louis and Millie who are very friendly and enjoy a good fuss. We are very lucky to still have them as they are very popular indeed with guests. We also have a beautiful cat who is outdoors most of the time and stays downstairs with us in the colder months.
The house is in a quiet part of Cardiff, it is a nice safe area with adequate parking. There is a Tesco round the corner, which is open until 23:00. There is a bus stop a stone throw away with buses going to the centre every 5 minutes. The journey takes just 10 minutes. The house is walking distance from town, just 20 minutes to the stadium, which you can see from the bottom of the road. It is also close to City Stadium too. There are lots of quirky eateries, bars and pubs nearby too. Our favourites are: Calabrisella, 154 Cowbridge Road, you must try their pizza! It’s the best in Cardiff, the specials menu is great too. They also make amazing cream filled croissants for breakfast as well as really good coffee. The Saint Canna, 42 Llandaff Road, is a welcoming craft ale bar that has something on every night, Thursday is street food night, well worth a visit. The Conway pub, 58 Conway Road, is an amazing gastropub/restaurant. Fresco Cafe, 228 Cowbridge Road, do the best cooked breakfast by far.
