Hello. We’re John & Irene England – a great name to have here in Scotland! We’ve lived in the Highlands since 2000, successfully running a small hotel near Aviemore, then a Guest House not far from here. Over the years we’ve built up a loyal following of regular guests, we are pleased and proud to say. They say, though, that you should “Never get too busy making a living that you forget to make a life”. So we recently sold the Guest House and “right sized” here to Clune House, a really nice smaller B&B which we’ll run just as professionally but with a bit more time for our hobbies. Irene loves hill walking & skiing – she has lots of experience in both. She’s also just got back into tennis and she still loves cooking – great news when it comes to your breakfasts. John enjoys Rugby Union, supporting Leicester Tigers and England, cycling, getting out whenever he can, and reading– nothing too posh, mind you. We both love to travel – Australia, India, China, New Zealand, Spain, Canada & Alaska have all been recent destinations. We never forget, though, that ours is a "people" business. Even after almost 20 years, we simply love meeting & looking after our guests.

Newtonmore is a delightful, friendly, traditional village in the heart of the Highlands. Offering visitors a warm welcome, it is an ideal location from which you can explore the many attractions in the local area and in the Cairngorms National Park. The village itself holds a lot of things to see and do. You can, for example, spend an afternoon, indeed, a whole day, at our excellent Highland Folk Museum, a living museum you can learn how folk have lived here over the centuries. There’s also the super Clan MacPherson museum for interesting information about our local Clan and its history. You can savour the peace, quiet & tremendous views walking the 10 km circular Wildcat Trail or simply stroll round the village, enjoying the unique Wildcat Experience, seeing just how many of our resident, individually decorated, wildcats you can spot! Newtonmore also has a good choice of places for a bite to eat, a drink or a cup of coffee or tea, a sandwich or a cake. You’ll not need to go anywhere else. However, just up the road is the village of Kingussie, capital of Ancient Badenoch and, a little further north, the town of Aviemore with its even wider choice of shops and eateries.
