Welcome to Coach Road Cottages, a one bedroom boutique self-catering cottage set within the rolling hills of Comber, County Down. Comber and the surrounding region, designated an area of outstanding natural beauty is a gateway to the Ards Peninsula, Strangford Lough and the Mourne Mountains and is yet only a 20 minute drive from Belfast City Centre. The Annex is an entirely self-contained ground floor apartment with private entrance and off road parking. It comprises a large living room with wood burning stove, double bedroom, separate kitchen, bathroom and access to our surrounding land. Dedicated parking is available for up to two cars, plus room for motorhomes, caravans or small boats with prior notice. We pride ourselves on our attention to detail and hope that this is reflected in the quality of our furnishings and layout of the property.
The Comber area offers much to see and do including arts and crafts, cycling, horse riding, fishing, sailing, walking and golfing. For days out, Castle Espie Wildfowl and Wetlands Centre is a great destination to see the diverse bird life of Strangford Lough. It is home to one of the largest collection of ducks, geese and swans in Ireland. Exploris in Portaferry has recently received a large investment and opened its doors once again to rave reviews. There are numerous properties and 100’s of acres of land managed by the National Trust in the region. Mount Stewart, Castle Ward, and Rowallane Gardens are perfect for a little history, horticultural experience or just a relaxing walk through our beautiful countryside. Further afield the Crown Bar in Belfast, the Mourne Mountains and the Giant’s Causeway are other examples of other trust-managed properties. For the more adventurous, why not hire a canoe and join one of a multitude of routes around Strangford Lough with over 800 islands to explore, or how about taking to the sky and being given a tour of the surrounding countryside in a light aircraft chartered from the Newtownards Airport.
