The house, a small Victorian cottage, is a peaceful place. The bedroom, which is on the first floor, is spacious and comfortable. FACILITIES FOR CYCLISTS AND WALKERS: A locked garage where you can store your bike. Washing machine & drying facilities for wet clothes. An outside tap to wash down muddy boots or bikes. Some tools and a puncture repair kit. Plug point to recharge e-bikes. Also, as our house rule is no outdoor shoes upstairs, there is a rack in the hall where you can leave shoes, poles, rucksacks, etc. IF YOU ARE TRAVELLING FOR WORK: We are close to Barrow and Ulverston, so welcome anyone who is travelling due to work. There is a desk in your room, with free wifi provided (it has a reasonably fast speed). Also, there is a printer, which you can use. MEALS: A simple breakfast basket is provided, which contains porridge, cereals, muesli & fruit, in your room. There is also a mini-fridge with fresh dairy milk (if you require options such as soy, please bring your own). A cooked breakfast/evening meal can be provided, but needs to be arranged in advance (extra cost). PLEASE NOTE: You can use the washing machine. NO access to the kitchen. NO TV.

As a keen walker (and ex-cyclist) I welcome muddy boots and mucky bikes. I am happy to chat with guests or leave them to do their own thing. I work from home, so I will be around to help with any queries.

Situated just south of the Lake District National Park, the house is close to many attractions, such as the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway and Windermere. Also, we are well placed to explore the wonderful countryside in Cumbria. We are close to cycle route 70 (Walney to Wear). Although Dalton is small, it has a variety of shops that supply essentials (our local supermarket is well-stocked). Also, there some cafes, pubs and restaurants. For more facilities, we are close to Ulverston and Barrow-in-Furness. If you want to leave the car (free parking is on a very quiet street) there are other travel options. The house is close to Sustrans Route 70. Trains from Dalton take you along the coast as far as Carlisle, or down to Manchester Airport. Stagecoach buses 6 & X6 stop nearby.
