Denbrae Cottage West enjoys a peaceful position set in picturesque countryside under a Km from St Andrews and only 3km to the centre. It is a few minutes drive from the buzz of St Andrews and its shops, bars and a wide choice of restaurants offering local and global cuisine. The town’s history is all around, with a 12th-century castle and cathedral, and a Botanic Garden and Golf Museum are among the area’s many other attractions. This accommodation sits in private gardens and has extensive accommodation conveniently arranged on one level. As a child I spent a week every summer in St Andrews and loved every minute of those holidays. Then as a young adult I got the chance to go to university in this special town. It was here that I met my husband Gordon and our joint love of St Andrews spurred us to buy a old house on Abbey Street and to renovate it totally to a high standard primarily for our own family use, and more recently Denbrae Cottage West and to offer them to you with the hope you will be as happy, whatever your reasons for coming to St Andrews, as we are in them!
Locally there are many recreational activities available including water and beach sports while nearby St Andrews is renowned worldwide as the ‘Home of Golf’. The Old Course is a regular host to the Open Championship, most recently in 2015. There are now six further golf courses run by the St Andrews Links Trust, in addition to the many other golf courses in the area including the Duke’s Course and Kingsbarns. The town is also well known for its university which was Scotland’s first university and the third oldest in the English-speaking world, founded in 1413. For over six centuries it has established a reputation as one of Europe’s leading and most distinctive centres for teaching and research. Access by rail, road and air is good. Leuchars railway station (5.5 miles) and Cupar (7.5 miles) are on the main Aberdeen to London line and provide a fast link to Dundee and Edinburgh.
