Dodd is a semi-detached cottage in a small group near Bassenthwaite. The cottage has a double room tucked under the eaves with a gallery overlooking the sitting room, and downstairs, a twin room, shower room, kitchen with dining area and a sitting area. Outside is ample off road parking and shared grounds including a games room and play area. Dodd makes a lovely base for families or couples to enjoy the walking, climbing and touring of this beautiful area. Note: Not suitable for infants or children under 2.
Situated just a short distance to the north east of Bassenthwaite Lake is the attractive village of Bassenthwaite itself. This charming settlement retains its traditional, rural feel and boasts a stream which winds through the outskirts of the village in addition to whitewashed Lakeland cottages, a well-maintained green and a real ale inn, full of character. Bassenthwaite Lake offers rolling hillside scenery and remains one of the most picturesque places in England. Points of interest nearby include Mirehouse - a grand home and gardens on the shores of the Lake - Trotters Farm, and Dodd Wood. Most of the attractions of the wider region are within easy driving distance whilst the quieter Northern Fells are almost on the doorstep. The towns of Cockermouth and Keswick and close by and both host weekly markets and a good range of other amenities.
