A traditional Edinburgh New Town property built in 1801. The building is Grade-A listed and both interior and exterior exemplify classical Georgian architecture. It is a beautifully proportioned ground floor apartment (steps up to main door) with 4 metre high ceilings, original features such as sash-and-case windows with working shutters and intact cornicing, giving a classic Georgian feel. Living room has dining table with four dining chairs, double sofa bed (all bedding and instructions provided), armchair, footstool 50" SMART TV and Blu-Ray player. Bedroom has been redecorated since photos taken. It has double bed with memory foam topper, wardrobe and dresser table with mirror. Hairdryer, hair straighteners, iron and ironing board are provided. Fully equipped kitchen with electric oven and hob, dishwasher, washing machine (no tumble dryer but drying rack provided). Shower-room and separate WC. Entrance hall with coat hooks, shoe rack and bookcase for guest use. Free Wi-Fi throughout.

I grew up in Edinburgh just a few streets away from this apartment, before going to university to study psychology in Aberdeen then moving to London to work for several years for a charity supporting adults with brain injuries. I currently teach the Alexander Technique teacher, write articles about health issues and spend time with my family.

The apartment is a ten minute walk from Edinburgh Waverley train station, and five minutes from the direct tram link to the airport. The New Town is the more expensive side of Edinburgh and the area is safe and quiet considering how central it is. For sightseeing, the medieval Old Town, Royal Botanic Gardens, and Georgian New Town are on your doorstep, and the Water of Leith offers a great escape to go for a walk. There is an excellent choice of restaurants and pubs nearby. The Cumberland Bar next door serves good craft beers, along with a decent wine list and home cooked food. Its sunny beer garden is a great place to sit out on the long Scottish summer nights. For more choice, Stockbridge, Broughton Street and Canonmills are all within short reach and are well worth a visit. For children there is an adventure playground a 5 minute walk away in King George V Park.
