Enjoy exclusive use of this peaceful, beautifully restored Edwardian house, the birthplace of the poet Dylan Thomas. It can sleep 1 to 7 people across the 4 bedrooms. Swansea centre is 1 miles away and the start of the Gower Beaches is 5 miles away.

The home which was originally owned by the Thomas family, has a retro Edwardian décor that includes a phonogram, books, newspapers of the day and games. Much of Thomas' published output was written in the house.

Apart from Dylan’s bedroom, which has been described as the first World Literary Heritage Site in Wales, there are 2 double bedrooms and a twin bedded room. On the ground floor are 3 reception rooms and a kitchen. There is a garden to the rear of the house.

Information about the host

The Grade 2 listed Dylan Thomas Birthplace was semi derelict in 2005 but after 3 years of painstaking restoration it was opened by the poet’s daughter Aeronwy. The property enjoys sea views and is close to the city centre and the famed Gower beaches. The single room was Dylan's tiny room where he wrote 2/3rds of his published work and decorated as it might have been in 1934. The house has been restored in the Edwardian style when it was bought by the family of Dylan Thomas as a new house in 1914 a few months before Dylan was born in the front bedroom. It is rated 4 star by VisitWales but does lack some modern amenities such as dishwasher and washing machine. It is no surprise that the Dylan Thomas Birthplace was the winner of the Special Judges Award for the Best Place to Stay at the prestigious Hudson's Heritage Awards 2017.
