Information about the host

Ecocamp Glenshee is a unique, peaceful site on the very edge of the Cairngorms National Park. We have a wide range of accommodation available, each different and each unique. Gaze at far horizons and watch our collection of animals wander about, book a llama trek on site, go for a hike, trail run, wild swim, bike ride, star gaze ( with a chance of the Northern Lights), ski at Glenshee, drive the Snow Roads or just sit and soak it all up. There is something for everyone! Kayaking, canoeing, nature and wildlife walks available locally. We have a communal toilet and shower area that is heated and has instant hot water. Our Bothy is a communal area and information hub with cooking, fridge, food storage, games, toys and books.

Simon and Fiona have lived in this idyllic location for over 20 years and know the area backwards. Both are active trail runners, mountaineers, mountain and road bikers, wild swimmers, kayakers, canoeists, downhill and cross country skiers. We love to share ideas and advice with our guests, we can also help with locating bike hire, kayak and mountain guides, ski hire and tuition. We run the site on environmentally sound principles and encourage our guests to do their bit too.

Our local landscape speaks for itself-far horizons, big skies, rolling hills and mountains, clear running rivers, abundant wildlife ( red and roe deer, otters, eagles, pine martens, osprey, ptarmigan, mountain hare and a family of red squirrels and site!). Harsh winters, snow and proper cold weather married to relatively dry and warm summers make it and outdoor enthusiasts dream location. Hill walkers are spoilt for choice with the Cairnwell Munros a short drive away. Forest trails give great family walks, dog walking and trail running. Great wild mountain biking is to be had-go out all day and never meet a soul! Wild swimming locations abound. Our local Gin distillery is a short drive away, as are great eateries. World famous Glamis Castle and Balmoral are within an hours drive, as are a hat full of world class golf courses.
