Beautifully set in a tree lined avenue in the cosmopolitan resort of Torquay, 'The English Riviera', this elegant Victorian villa is ideally located just a short stroll away from the sea front.

Within easy reach of a range of local attractions, during your stay you can easily visit Torre Abbey and garden, the Riviera Centre and Theatre. The harbour and many shops and restaurants are also within easy walking distances.

In the evenings, why not relax with a drink on Fleurie’s picturesque sun terrace. Although the house is not licensed, you are welcome to bring your own alcoholic drinks to relax with after a long day.

Information about the host

Fleurie Guest House is an elegant Victorian Villa on a quiet tree lined Avenue a short walk from Tor Abbey, the Seafront, Marina, shops, bars and eateries. We have a small car park at the front of the house that can accommodate 3/4 cars with further unrestricted street parking outside. Our 6 Guest Rooms are all are en-suite and have 32'' TV. They include 3 Standard Rooms, 1 Superking/ Twin and 1 Triple room. Free wifi is available throughout. Our breakfast produce is all locally sourced where possible with Free Range farm eggs the norm! In response to suggestions from guests we recently converted one of our ground floor rooms into a Guest Lounge which we call The Snug. It is equipped with a 32'' TV, a Radio and a Tassimo Coffee Machine, with complimentary tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits. Here you can sit to plan your day or indulge in a cold one after a busy day sightseeing. You are welcome to eat Takeaway meals in here or on The Sun Terrace. You could also ask about our Small Plates Menu available for pre-order at a reasonable price.

We, Gill and John, moved from The Isle of Wight early 2017 to embark on a brand new adventure as Guest House owners, . We previously both worked in health related environments. During our time here we have had the pleasure of welcoming many lovely visitors from all over the world. Conversations in the Breakfast Room are always interesting! Our interests are many and varied and we have gained lots of new skills in renovating and maintaining Fleurie House. I, Gill, particularly enjoy gardening and faced with a lack of growing space have increased my use of plant pots for both flowers and vegetables. I currently have a glut of black tomatoes for slow roasting for breakfast. I also enjoy cooking! John has a long standing interest in collecting Vinyl Records, good quality Costume Jewellery and Bric-a-Brac. He has recently assembled a sample of his wares in a display case and offers these for purchase. He is also working on renovating a 1972 MGB GT We have a dog called Ellie who is a cross between and Jack Russell and Border Collie. She loves people and will tell us when someone has arrived by walking to the front window excitedly wagging her tail to greet them!

Torquay offers a wealth of attractions to meet all tastes and interests. Many of these are within walking distance or a short drive. It is ideally situated to explore the beautiful English Riviera and beyond. The picturesque village of Cockington with it's thatched cottages is nearby and a lovely area for a walk with of without your dog. It has Tea Rooms, Horse and Cart rides, a Glass Blowing Centre, and much more. You can also drive there or take the Land Train that leaves from Tor Abbey (5 mins walk away) approximately every 40 mins. A short walk through the Abbey takes you down to the Seafront where you can take the opportunity to enjoy a glass and/or meal enjoying the view across the Bay and people watching. You could also stroll down to the Marina and hop on the very reasonably priced Ferry to Brixham or the equally well priced Ferry to Dartmouth. These services are dog friendly as are many others around Torquay including pubs and eateries. There are many good and great pubs such as Chelston Manor that offers a cracking Sunday dinner and is a short walk away in Chelston Village and lots of eateries and lively nightlife with many live music venues in Torquay.
