Middleham is notable for its large Castle sitting proudly at the top of the village, the childhood home of Richard III, it is well worth a visit. Middleham is rightly famous for its many racing stables, Middleham Racing Tours gives you the opportunity to get up close and personal with the stars of the north's premier racehorse training centre. The famous training centre is home to around 15 racehorse trainers and over 500 horses. The architecture in this pretty village is also noteworthy; wander around and enjoy being taken back in time. Two public houses serve good Yorkshire Fare and along with a restaurant which is gaining in popularity and receiving good reviews. Leyburn, only a few miles away, is the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales National Park and is also a Tour de Yorkshire cycling town.
