This property is 6 minutes walk from the beach. Overlooking the park and Torre Abbey, this guest house offers hearty and healthy breakfasts cooked to order, a garden for guests to enjoy during the day and rooms with en suite bathrooms. The seafront is just a 5-minute walk away.
The 5 rooms at Gainsboro all include a flat-screen TV, free WiFi, and tea and coffee-making facilities. The en-suite shower rooms feature free toiletries. Rooms can accommodate children aged over 5 only.
Breakfast is served in the traditional Victorian dining room, with lovely view of the garden and fields. Guests can choose from fresh full English breakfasts with fruit, juices, and cereals.
Free parking is available, and Torquay Railway Station is only a 5-minute walk away. The town centre and harbour are a 20-minute walk along the seafront. The picturesque village of Cockington is just 1.4 miles away.
The Gainsboro is a small property with only 5 guest bedrooms so you are always going to get some personal service. We are situated in a small Victorian terrace overlooking some playing fields so although we remain close to the beach we are not in a built up area overlooked by other B&Bs. Torquay Train station is a 3 minute walk away so if you don't fancy driving you don't have to. We are in the process of upgrading each room the twin being the 1st to be completed. All rooms have new mattresses or nearly new ones + new quilts and pillow cases. The front garden will be a beautiful place to sit and enjoy the summer as we have done a lot of work to the the flower beds.
The garden is full of wild birds including a unique visit by a Wryneck last year. We have fishing rods available if you fancy a bit of sea fishing. If you enjoy metal detecting or photography we should be able to give you some good advice on the local area.
Being a 5 minute walk from the beach we love nothing more than a walk along the promenade watching people rock-pooling then back through Torre Abbey gardens where you can try your hand at lawn bowls. When we feel like stretching our legs a little more a half hour walk through the water meadows takes us to the tranquil village of Cockington with it's lakes, the arboretum, craft centre and tea rooms - and a traditional country pub.
