~NO ALL MALE GROUPS STAYING AT THE HOUSE PLEASE~ I fell in love with Glyn Mawr as soon as I saw it and bought it soon after. I had never seen a place like this before with it's incredible, unique view and 360 degree aspect which makes you feel embedded in nature. There is something special about this valley, it's very peaceful and after a few days here you really forget about the stresses of life and completely relax. When you are here there are no signs of civilisation, just the trees, rolling hills, mountains, sheep, birds and lake. What I found here was an uninhabitable barn facing the lake. I set about plans to renovate it and did it in the most ecological way possible so the building is both healthy to be in and has a low impact on the environment using natural materials such as sheep's wool insulation and hemp lime plaster. I opened up the space inside to make it open plan living that enjoys the amazing views across the lake and mountains. Staying at Glyn Mawr is a wonderful experience which re-connects you with nature and recharges your batteries.
I love nature and being in a place where you feel immersed in it. I was lucky enough to find Glyn Mawr where you feel like this. It's a secluded property with stunning views of the lake and mountains and is just ten minutes drive to the local town. I spent years renovating it with all natural materials and am really happy that other people are able to enjoy it too.
For local pubs and restaurants, I would recommend the Cwrt restaurant in the centre of Bala town for pizza / pasta. The local Indian restaurant Bala Spice does nice Indian food. The cafe Sospan Fach in Bala is good for breakfast and lunch. They also do a good roast on a Sunday. The Eagles pub in the nearby hamlet Llanuwchllyn does some really nice home cooked food. All the locals go there as the food is so good. Barmouth Beach, Black Rock beach and Nefyn beach are all really nice. Driving through the Snowdonia mountains is great. If you're adventurous you can walk up Mount Snowdon. Spending time at the lake at the bottom of the road is great. It's very beautiful and peaceful there. You can also hire canoes, sail or catamaran on the lake. There's a small train that goes up and down the side of the lake. There's also white water rafting nearby as well and lots of great hiking trails / walks with beautiful scenery.
