Clare has a rich heritage associated with the wool and cloth trade. The wealth of the merchants resulted in a some fine architectural buildings in the town and today there are 130 listed buildings. Probably one of the best ways to explore these and the town is to follow the town trail which gives you lots of information on the buildings as you walk. Clare Castle Country Park is home to the remains of 13th Century Clare Castle and the starting point of six circular walks which take in the town and surrounding countryside. If you feel yourself getting peckish whilst out exploring the town's impressive architecture, Honey Hill Brasserie serves delicious Italian pastries and homemade cakes alongside award-winning Butterworth & Sons coffee.
