Information about the host

Welcome to Hafod Bleddyn, our restored cottage nestled on the edge of Snowdonia and the Berwyn Hills. The house is one of the oldest in the village, but has been modernised throughout. It has fibre optic wifi, smart TV, washer/dryer/dishwasher, a private garden and oil fired central heating. The property boasts wonderful views of the Dee valley. The house comprises of 3 bedrooms, sleeping 6, open plan kitchen/diner, sun room, family room, 2 bathrooms and wrap around grounds. There is a fully fitted kitchen including dishwasher, 2 fridges, hob/oven and walk in utility with washing machine/dryer, a spacious open plan dining area and a sun room with some of the best views in the village. The family room is a more private space with a smart TV, books, films and games for you to enjoy. The downstairs bathroom has a walk-in shower. There is a master bedroom with a super king sized bed, a twin room and a double room. The upstairs bathroom has bath/shower. Outside there is ample space for parking within the grounds, gates to maximise safety and privacy, a BBQ area, picnic seating and courtyard at the rear - perfect for storing bikes.

We have lived locally for many years and have recently fully renovated this traditional Welsh stone cottage, which sits in its own grounds in an elevated position with views of the Dee valley. We love walking, cycling, wild swimming, good food and nature-watching in this perfect unspoiled location and are sure you will too. We have put a lot of thought and time into the facilities so that you will have a wonderful, relaxing time.

The village of Cynwyd is a brilliant base for exploring North Wales. The immediate surrounding area is jam-packed with places to walk, cycle and drive around. In the dining room is a large, framed OS map of the area showing all the local paths. There is a walking path using the old GWR railway running all the way into Corwen, which starts just across the road. The North Berwyn Way is very close for those wanting to get away from it all. The house backs onto the Berwyn Hills with many walks, wonderful views and rare wildlife. The village of Cynwyd has a friendly pub serving food, a post office, shop and bakery. Cynwyd is a 45 minute drive from the base of Snowdon, and under an hour from Dolgellau, Barmouth, the Llŷn peninsular and Anglesey. More locally, Bala and Llyn Tegid (20 min drive) is great for windsurfing, sailing, swimming and kayaking, and for those who want to stay on dry land there are plenty of good cafes, shops and a great craft beer bar, Stori. Llangollen (20 min drive) is another great spot on the River Dee, with historical ruins to climb, great pubs, restaurants, shops and the famous Steam Railway that runs all the way to Corwen.
