This 19th-century guest house is located on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. With guest accommodation, the Harvest Home Guest House boasts a licensed restaurant which specialises in hearty, home-cooked food. There is a small front terrace, overlooking Kings Tor and Brentor.

The spacious rooms at the Harvest Home Guest House are decorated in light colours and feature flat-screen satellite TVs and king-sized beds. Each room includes a leather sofa, a luxury bathroom and has either countryside views or access to a patio.

Each morning a cooked breakfast is available at the Harvest Home Guest House. In the dining room traditional meals including meat pies are served, all using meat from the local butchers.

Guests can enjoy the beautiful walking routes, including the Tamar Trails, which surround the property. Fishing is available locally and the World Heritage Site of Morwellham Quay is just a 5-minute drive away.

Information about the host

The house was originally built in approx 1800 because of the mining of copper and tin in the area. There is no mining in the area any more but the old mine railway tracks have been turned into long cycle and walking paths. It can be accessed only about a 2 minute drive away. The house is constructed of granite blocks with slate infill and faced off with white render with a slate roof. This is typical construction for houses in this area. We often are visited by people from Australians who have traced their ancestors back to this area because when the tin and copper mining ran out they emigrated to Australia to carry on mining. Most recently we had Australians staying whose great, great, great grandfather was born in our house in 1823.

We enjoy meeting new people from the UK and other countries who come to enjoy our fresh air and home cooked food.

.We are set on the western edge of Dartmoor with its wide open spaces and plenty of walking. Just 3 miles away is the Stannary town of Tavistock where Sir Francis Drake came from. You can go and see his house, Buckland Abbey, which was given to him by Elizabeth I. We also have Cotehele House to visit with its lovely gardens and working flour mill. About an hours drive from here there is the north coast where you visit Tintagel Castle, Boscastle and Port Isaac. On the south coast approx. 45 miniutes drive away you can visit Looe and Polperro. All in all, plenty to see and do.
