Information about the host

Our home is a Swedish style wooden house, set in a garden designed mainly for wildlife. The front aspects overlook the river Taw, and the Tarka trail is opposite the house. There are many sites where bicycles can be hired along the Tarka trail The village is over 1000 years old, so parking is on the street approximately 100yards from the house. The nearest shops are 1-2 miles away, the nearest beach only 20minutes. We are 3/4 hour from Exmoor, 11 miles from Appledore and Westward Ho! North Devon has an amazing award winning beach at Woolacombe, 13 miles away, and the fabulous coast path running from beyond Lynton to Hartland quay, and further into Cornwall. Water sports are popular, with kyacks for rent, surfing beaches, body boarding and swimming. The local arts centre, The Plough has outdoor theatre/plays in safely distanced stately homes. We are well known for our gardens, with Rosemoor only 1/2 hour away, and local ones like Marwood gardens. Quince honey farm is the largest bee garden in Europe. Eateries are numerous and cater for guests with dietary requirements very well. More detailed information is available on request, since most places now require booking.

I really enjoy meeting new people and sharing the delights of Devon according the individual interests. I'm a pilot gig rower, and enjoy body boarding and kyacking. As you will see, gardening is another passion, especially when the fruit and vegetables are in season. I've travelled and worked oversea, so understand the needs of most holiday makers, whether you'd like complete rest and relaxation, exploring the fascinating countryside nearby, or try your hand at a new sport.
