On 29th June 2010, I purchased this lovely Edwardian house with planning permission for change of use to a Bed and Breakfast. After an extensive 4 month works schedule, which included complying with all building, fire, healthy and safety regulations, I opened to the public on 1st November 2010. The works included upgrading all doors to comply with fire safety, a complete re-wire, fire board on ALL downstairs ceilings, sound proofing, installation of all en-suite bathrooms and turning the store room into a shower room, oh yeah and decorating!!!!
I moved to Leiston in 2004 from Chigwell, Essex. After falling in love with this town and its community, I wanted to establish myself, so I decided to purchase a guesthouse to accommodate the growing demand for places to stay on this beautiful coastline. Being so close to the famous Minsmere nature reserve, excellent golf courses and popular neighbouring villages of Aldeburgh and Southwold, Leiston is a great affordable location. I have worked in all service industries but for the previous 5 years managed and looked after holiday lets in the local area and so it seemed a natural progression to supply the accommodation myself.
Home from Home guesthouse is situated on the West of the town of Leiston. It is within walking distance to the local co-operative store, many various restaurants and public houses. I have compiled a detailed explanation of the house and how things work and include a large description of pubs, restaurants, taxi numbers, local attractions and more. The "Welcome Pack" for your information, is a copy of this in every room. There are a number of shops and service outlets, mainly within the centre of the town principally along High Street and Sizewell Road, which provide for the needs of the local and surrounding community. A weekly market operates on Fridays in The Crown Pub car park. The local doctors’ operate a modern Health Centre in Main Street. The town is well provided with parking with local authority pay-and-display car parks at High Street and Sizewell Road and "free" car parks at Main Street and Valley Road, the latter being "long-stay". Private car parking has been provided for shoppers at the rear of the Solar Superstore and for general use off Platers Walk at the rear of new shops in High Street.
