Information about the host

Hound House B&B accommodation is in a separate annexe of our house meaning our guests have complete privacy. It is like a self-contained cottage but sadly it does not have a kitchen. It does, however have a fridge, kettle and toaster, so guests can store their own snacks and drinks. We have two beautiful bedrooms which we only let out simultaneously to single parties as the bathroom is shared between the two rooms. Or you can rent just one room and have the annexe to yourselves. We are in the middle of a beautiful and historic village surrounded by stunning countryside perfect for walking and cycling. There are many beautiful open gardens and historic houses in the area. Dorset is a very unspoilt county, perfect for an outdoor break.

We have been welcoming guests to Hound House for over ten years and have lived in the house for 25 years. We know Dorset really well and can give plenty advice on walks, pubs, shopping, gardens, the coast, etc. We are a family of 4 with an old black labrador and a few chickens.

The Jurassic Coast is stunning and just 20 miles away. The beaches are pebbly but very clean and not crowded and the walks are stunning from the cliff tops. Fishing trips, kayaking, coast-steering are all on offer. World Famous Durdle Door is about 45 mins drive away, but this beach does get busy in the summer. There are many National Trust and stunning gardens properties to explore. Bath and Exeter are easily accessible by train or car. Local attractions: Monkey World, The Tank Musuem, Fleet Air Arm Museum, Haynes Motor Museum, Tunnel Tree Tops - high wire walk, Longleat, Stourhead, Forde Abbey, Abbotsbury Swans and Tropical Gardens,
