Information about the host

Knapp House is a lovely Art and Crafts Country House set on the edge of Exmoor. It was built in the early 1900's as a family shooting lodge. It is surrounded by beautiful gardens, great views and the most peaceful countryside. It is just 4 miles from Dulverton which is the prettiest little town on Exmoor with pubs, tearooms and even an excellent Thai restaurant. Staying at Knapp House is like an old-fashioned "country house party" but with the freedom to do what you want, your privacy and your own front door. Guests may bring a small well behaved dog but only to Hunters Lodge and Stapledon Lodge. Kestrel Lodge and Woodpecker Loft do not accept pets.

Mike and I have both had busy professional lives. We love welcoming guests to our very beautiful part of North Devon. We are busy restoring the kitchen garden at Knapp House and building lovely garden summer houses for our guests to enjoy.

There is too much to do in North Devon to list....wonderful, long sandy beaches, fantastic walks, water sport, great pubs, fabulous food and probably the most dog friendly part of the world you will ever visit.
