Huntley Bed & Breakfast is a 1820s family home, set in 5 acres of gardens only 5 miles from Belfast city centre.
A continental breakfast is available daily at the bed and breakfast.
The Belfast Empire Music Hall is 3.7 miles from Huntley Bed & Breakfast, while The Waterfront Hall is 4.3 miles away. The nearest airport is George Best Belfast City Airport, 6.8 miles from the property.
Huntley, conveniently located on the outskirts of Belfast, is an 1820s family home offering two large bedrooms with king-size beds and 100% cotton or pure Irish linen bedclothes, cotton bath towels & linen hand towels. Bedrooms are NOT en-suite, but guests (max 4) have the use of a large, airy bathroom, with bath and separate walk-in shower. Breakfast is served in the elegant dining room and includes juice, fresh fruit, yoghurt, muesli, home-made granola, bread/toast, tea/coffee as well as the option of a cooked breakfast (bacon, eggs, sausages). When available, there may be fresh fruit from the garden, and all jams/preserves are home-made with garden produce. There is a cosy morning room/library with open fire, TV/DVD, and free WiFi and guests are welcome to take a stroll round the Victorian walled garden, where there are several areas to sit and enjoy the sun (when it shines!) and the views. There is an 80 sq m studio space (1st floor) available for guests to use (tai chi/yoga etc) and a tennis court - 24 hours' notice required for set-up (racquets & balls provided). Access not suitable for lorries or large vans.
Until switching to Booking dot com, I was an Airbnb Superhost for two and a half years. During this time, I welcomed many guests from all over the world (97% with 5* reviews) and I have enjoyed meeting them all and helping them make the most of their visits to Northern Ireland. I speak passable French and some Italian and have a plentiful supply of visitor information in the house, which supplements my own local knowledge. Each year, from March until November, I welcome young volunteers (known as WWOOFers - World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms) who, in return for bed and board, they keep the very productive walled garden under control and stocked with fresh fruit and vegetables. The house has featured in two BBC dramas: We're Doomed - The Dad's Army Story (2015) and Dave Allen at Peace (2017) and there are other projects in the pipeline. I have also hosted Tai Chi workshops, both in the walled garden and the Studio annexe, with more planned for the future.
Huntley is only 5 miles (15 minutes) from Belfast city centre by car and there are good public transport links (rail & bus) from Dunmurry village (approximately 1 mile walk from the house). Convenient for both the City and International airports, there is also plenty of free parking at the property. Dunmurry Golf Club, Malone Golf Club and Sir Thomas & Lady Dixon Park are all within walking distance and all the major visitor attractions in the city (St. George's Market, Titanic Exhibition, City Hall, Queen's Quarter, the Ulster Museum & Botanic Gardens, Cathedral Quarter) are easily accessible. Huntley is just over an hour's drive from the north coast where visitors can enjoy the Giant's Causeway, Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, miles of sandy beaches and Game of Thrones film locations. There is a wide choice of places to eat out, both close to Huntley and in Belfast itself. In the dining room, guests will find a selection of business cards for restaurants that my previous guests have recommended.
