Hello I'm Karen, I have lived in Edinburgh most of my life. Travelled to various places but always came back to Edinburgh. I enjoy meeting people and working in this business suits me perfectly. Meeting people from all over the world without leaving home. Wonderful!
Balerno or gaelic name Ballenoch, meaning farm with the sloe bushes, was first mentioned in written records in the 13th century. It was developed in the 18th century with the growth of snuff, paper and flaxseed and the railway to the city centre was built to carry the freight. Now it's stunning leafy idyll full of walkers, cyclists, horse riders which takes you to the heart of Edinburgh's city centre ,(8 miles), or the Pentland National park where you can enjoy the outdoor pursuits on offer. Rambling, fishing , birdwatching, (we have a stunning heron living on the Water of Leith walkway whose entrance is on our doorstep). There are seven reservoirs with fishing permits available. Swanston Golf Club, Midlothian Ski Centre, boasting the highest dry ski slope in Europe and the Edinburgh International climbing arena a mere 5 minutes drive.
