King William the Fourth Inn was built on the site of another Pub in 1904 by Landlord John Wain, no relation to the cowboy! The story goes that John Wain continued to serve in one half of the new pub while the old was still being demolished on the other half of the site so service was not interrupted. Some locals still remember drinking in The King Billy, as it was affectionately known especially in summer in the cool cellar complete with fresh water stream, and it was reputed to have sold the best pint in Settle! For the last 25 years the building has been used as an Antique shop and more recently transformed into this luxurious guest house with high quality beds and showers that will guarantee a relaxing stay. We offer great customer service and amazing food which owners Chris Fontenille and Jackie Cole learnt from our previous occupations in the food and hotel industry respectively.
We both have a passion for the outdoors, especially cycling and in particular mountain biking which is very handy living on the doorstep of some of the best in the country! When not on two wheels we love to walk and have learnt many great walks around the western dales and bowland. We enjoy taking Chris's mum's dog Lucas with us! Another passion is food and we enjoy to entertain or simply go out for a nice meal from a good pub meal or a curry to fine dining.
