Dating back to c.1850, you will find Kirkmichael House sitting on the edge of the quiet village of Kirkmichael in Perthshire. The house is ideally situated, whether you just want to rest and relax or to use it as a base to explore the area. Not only does the Cateran Hiking Trail pass through the village, there are miles of marked walking paths accessible from the doorstep. Kirkmichael lies within the foothills of the Cairngorm mountains, Britain's largest National Park. The ski resort of Glenshee is located just 18 miles away, and the Edradour and Blair Atholl Whisky Distilleries, along with historic houses and castles such as Glamis, Balmoral and Scone Palace are within easy reach. For golfing enthusiasts, Blairgowrie Golf Club features top quality championship courses. You will find our individual rooms, comfortable and well-equipped. The Cameron Room offers a king-sized bed with ensuite bath, while the upper Loft Suite is offered with a double room, twin room, bathroom and a small lounge.
With there having been a dwelling place on the site for over 1200 years, the house has witnessed many events over the centuries, from Roman clashes with the Celts in the 1st Century, to Oliver Cromwell's reputed stay in the house in 1653. A spring, which never runs dry and reputed to have healing properties, runs under the house and emerges on the roadside below. We look forward to meeting you and to welcome you to Kirkmichael House.
Kirkmichael sits on the Southern edge of the stunning Cairngorms National Park, surrounded by the beautiful hills and glens of Perthshire. The village is ideally placed for year round activities, including hiking, cycling, 'Munro bagging' (the Cairngorms boasts five of Scotland's six highest mountains) and for skiing enthusiasts, the Glen Shee Ski Centre is a short drive away. For those wishing to get away from it all, the village offers a tranquil setting to just rest and relax.
