Hi, my name is Dee and I am your host. I enjoy gardening, decorating, baking and walking. My husband, Alan, and I are members of the National Trust and English Hertitage. We like to give our guests the space and privacy they deserve, but will always be on hand if anything is required.
Enjoy the splendour of living in one of Gloucester’s finest Georgian town houses. Built in 1823, Moreton House is located within the historic conservation area in Gloucester City. Moreton House can cater for large groups of family and friends, having 7 bedrooms; 3 king bedrooms, 1 double bedroom, 2 twin bedrooms and 1 family bedroom (with a king-sized bed and a bunk bed), all with their own private en-suite, with a cloakroom on the ground floor.
This property is located on the site of the Great Siege of Gloucester, which took place in 1643, when the city held out against Royalist forces during the English Civil War. Later used as a music school attended by Ivor Novello. Located within Gloucester's historic conservation area and is the perfect place to stay for the city’s numerous festivals, including Three Choirs, Victorian Christmas market, tall ships, etc. This peaceful retreat is just a stone’s throw away from the historic Gloucester Docks and the famous Quays shopping centre. Nearby is the bustling city centre, once a Roman municipality of Glevum, with oodles of Roman heritage and its famous 13th Century Cathedral, used recently in several Harry Potter films. Beatrix Potter’s Tailor of Gloucester Shop is nearby and, of course, the Gloucester rugby ground at Kingsholm. King Henry II granted Gloucester its first charter in 1155 and in 1216 King Henry III, aged only ten, was coronated in the Chapter House of Gloucester Cathedral. Nearby are many interesting places to visit, i.e the spa town of Cheltenham, Roman Bath, Oxford and the famous idyllic Cotswold villages, including Bourton on the Water and Snowshill.
