I am your host at Little Haven. I am a self-employed landlord and do-er up-er. I am a former sports journalist in my late 40s and now have two grown-up children. I am passionate about this area of the British coastline and have enjoyed staying at this beloved holiday cottage many, many times. I have fond childhood memories of holidays on these beautiful beaches. I bought the cottage in 2002 when my children were very young and have enjoyed many special family holidays in it since. With lovely walks, spectacular views and acres of sandy beaches just a few minutes' walk from the front door, we have found it a cosy and convenient base from which to explore our favourite part of the British Isles. This region is one of the most unspoilt areas of England, and its rich wildlife and cosy character pubs and restaurants have kept us returning year after year. My family has, time and again, relished the relaxed pace of life offered by a break in Seahouses. I will leave you in peace to enjoy your stay - but help and advice is always on hand if you need it.
In Seahouses, the stresses & strains of working life ebb away in a beautiful harbour village which has lost none of its historic charm. The shopping centres of Newcastle are less than an hour's drive, but also a world away. The addition of an indoor heated pool and gym at the village leisure centre is an added attraction, while the village's proximity to the pretty market towns of Alnwick (recently voted the town with the best quality of life in the UK!) and Berwick, is a great benefit. Visit Edinburgh (90 minutes' drive) to see the castle and the zoo, while Seahouses itself offers so much, with a warm friendly welcome, a smattering of unusual craft and gift shops, some superb pubs and restaurants. Everything is Seahouses is a short walk away. You are only five minutes from the heart of the village, and the harbour. Local bus services run the length of the Northumberland coast, while you are spoilt for choice when it comes to quiet rural drives to peaceful bays and villages. The Cotswold hills are a short drive inland, while Berwick (to the North) and Alnwick (to the South, with its famous castle and gardens) also offers a wide range of shops, galleries, pubs and restaurants.
