Loch Eyre Shepherd Hut (situated in the grounds of Loch Eyre House) is perfectly positioned to create a get away from it all bolt hole for your trip to Skye. We are situated in between Portree and Uig, which makes a great location to tour the island, or for a stop over en route to the Outer Isles. Traditionally a shepherd hut was a dining room, bedroom, sitting room and storeroom all rolled into one. Designed to provide the shepherd with practical and durable accommodation. Our Shepherd Hut is equipped with it’s own wood burning stove, and has electric power to make your stay comfortable. It’s position affords stunning views over Loch Eyre and beyond. The hut is tastefully decorated and provides the ideal cosy retreat for your visit to Skye where you can rest and enjoy some privacy. The beauty of Loch Eyre Shepherd Hut, is that although you have the rustic living experience, you have access to your own private toilet and wash hand basin (NO SHOWER OR BATH). You also have the use of Loch Eyre House’s comfortable guest lounge if you wish. Additionally – staff are nearby and on hand should you require any advice or assistance. Really the best of both worlds! It’s your choice!

Loch Eyre Shepherds Hut is situated between Portree and Uig (approximately 11 minute drive to both), making it an ideal location for exploring the Isle of Skye. There are buses around 3 times per day which pass at the bottom of the street, which go to Portree or Uig, allowing you to connect easily for your ongoing journey. (check schedule as it is subject to change).
