Hidden in the very heart of Crieff, yet a world away from the hustle and bustle, lies Lochinver. The beautiful Victorian sandstone building features ornate cornicing, ceiling roses and large bay windows. It has been refitted to modern insulation and fire safety standards while still retaining the elegance of the original building. Lochinver is located about 60 seconds walk from Crieff town centre where there is an abundance of high quality restaurants and local shops. There are 5 spacious and airy bedrooms (3 king and 2 double), large kitchen and 3 bathrooms. The living room includes television with Chromecast, and a selection of books to choose from. Wake up to fresh air and the sound of the birds in the garden (or bagpipes during the summer), enjoy breakfast on your private patio while looking over to the Ochil hills in the West. Enjoy dinner at the banquet table in the dining room. The ground floor is all on one level, and has level access, perfect for wheelchair users or guests with limited mobility. The king bedroom downstairs has a Jack and Jill en-suite with a wheelchair accessible bathroom and walk in shower. The Wi-Fi is fast and included.
Perthshire itself offers stunning scenery and a huge variety of things to do. There's the activities at Crieff Hydro Hotel, the surrounding hills, glens and lochs provide interesting walks (lots from the doorstep), cycling (on and off road), hill climbing, water sports, fishing, shooting and stalking. There are lots of good golf courses nearby including a championship 18 hole course in Crieff, and Gleneagles is just 12 miles away, with its three championship courses, equestrian centre and shooting school. Stirling (with its magnificent castle) is just 40 minutes away, and all the many attractions of Edinburgh and Glasgow are easily reached by train or car. Crieff is a historic old drovers' town and has a good range of restaurants and cafes, as well as the oldest distillery in Scotland at Glenturret. Perth has a great array of independent shops, art galleries, museum, theatre and concert hall. There are lots of fabulous castles, historic homes and gardens in the area to visit too. Wildlife is everywhere: red kites, sea eagles, ospreys, golden eagles (if you are very lucky!), lapwings, oyster catchers, magnificent skeins of geese, red squirrels, otters and deer.
