Please read the reviews for my place (and ignore any that aren't complimentary) - that way I don't have to sound like a Used-Car Salesman or Estate Agent };0) Situated in the very centre (or 'center') of London, a short walk from the British Museum and the West End, my place is ideal for a short (or long) stay. After all, why pay through the nose for a hotel?* It's a cosy, comfortable one-bed apartment with a large lounge and galley kitchen. The building is marked with an English Heritage "Blue Plaque", as the former home of novelist Dorothy L. Sayers** The apartment itself is on the second floor (third for Americans!), and is served by a lift (or "elevator"). There's a double bed (135 x 190 cm; 4'6" x 6'3") in the bedroom, and a sofa bed in the lounge (see photo); as such, the place can comfortably sleep 4 people - but it's obviously better suited for one or two. There's only a small tv at the moment - but, heck, you should go out and enjoy London, anyway, not sit inside glued to the box!! };0) *...ok, I probably do sound like a Car Salesman! **confession: I hadn't heard of her, either!
Professional (lawyer, but don't hold that against me!), living and working in London. I enjoy the usual range of activities (despite a mildly concerning obsession with watching rugby, particularly NZ) and am generally easy-going and quite social. I'll usually be at the apartment to welcome you on your arrival, and (hopefully!) answer any queries you may have, after which please feel free to treat - as opposed to 'trash' };0) - the place as your own for the duration of your stay! I live and work close by, so you can call should you need further assistance at any time. Please note the stated check-in time may be later than other places - this is mainly to ensure that the apartment can be 'cleaned and preened' by the time you arrive, if other guests have left that morning - in reality, it is usually ready by about 3/4pm (and even if it isn't, you can leave your luggage by arrangement)
Seriously, you couldn't find a better location for the price. You can walk to the British Museum, Covent Garden, Oxford Street and the West End, or take the Underground from Russell Square Holborn or Kings Cross St Pancras (the latter ideal for trains to both major airports, as well as the Eurostar ... oh, and it also houses the longest Champagne Bar in Europe!). The neighbourhood has a quiet and safe 'vibe'; there are a number of bars in the vicinity (the Rugby Tavern just two doors away), and a variety of restaurants, cafes and bookshops. Culture vultures can enjoy a walk back in time through Gray's and Lincoln's Inns, or visit the Charles Dickens Museum just around the corner. Fancy a flutter? Try your luck at the small (and friendly) Gala Casino at Russell Square.
