Information about the host

Lys-Na-Greyne is an Edwardian granite house discretely nestled in the tranquil wooded conservation area at the west end of Aboyne. Sitting on the north bank of the River Dee, its westerly outlook provides stunning views up the Dee valley. Set in over three acres of mature gardens, Lys-Na-Greyne offers visitors luxury bed and breakfast accommodation in peaceful and idyllic surroundings in the heart of Royal Deeside

With so many great things to do locally out of doors, we love to get out to the hills for a walk or a cycle or skiing in the winter when the weather allows.

The attractive Royal Deeside village of Aboyne is a little gem in the heart of Deeside and a haven for tourists the whole year round. The Great Outdoors are quite literally on the door step. Numerous walks and wild life abounds in both the local woodlands and estates as well as in the natural Scots pine woodlands of the Cairngorm National Park. For the hill walking enthusiast there are numerous Munros in the Cairngorm mountains, not least of all Mount Keen which is both visible and accessible from the house. Many smaller peaks are also within easy reach of the house. There are various Deeside Golf courses including Aboyne, Banchory, Ballater & Braemar. Extensive mountain biking, salmon fishing and shooting are also available locally and with storage facilities at Lys-Na-Greyne, equipment can easily be accommodated. The local Highland Games run throughout the summer starting with the Aboyne Games on the first Saturday in August and conclude in September with the Braemar Gathering attended annually by Her Majesty the Queen and other members of the Royal family. In the winter snowsports are available at Glenshee and The Lecht, both only a short drive away.
