Neighbourhood information

Helensburgh is a town on the River Clyde, west of Glasgow. Many tourists enjoy breaks in the town. Founded in 1176 by Sir James Colquhoun from the nearby historic village of Luss. He named the town after his wife. It has been home to some notable people such as John Logie- Baird and Henry Bell. In 1903, Charles Rennie Mackintosh built the Hill House on Colquhoun Street high up in the town for the publishing tycoon Walter Blackie. The house is a popular attraction in the town, managed by the National Trust for Scotland. Helensburgh is ideally placed for visits to nearby areas such as Loch Lomond, Luss, Dumbarton and the city of Glasgow.
