The Holy Island of Lindisfarne is just 15 minutes' drive away and Alnwick Castle and Gardens can be reached after a 20-minute drive. Bamburgh with its castle and beaches is a 5-minute car journey away. Newcastle city centre can be reached in an hour by car.

Information about the host

Following a successful career with British Airways Amanda retrained as a chef and has worked at such places as Swinton Park cookery school and Middleton Lodge in North Yorkshire. Running a Guest House has always been her ambition and Market Cross benefits not only from her skills in the kitchen but also her eye for design. Steve comes from a background of logistics and Health and Safety on the British railway network and never expected to be running a Guest House. Unexpectedly, he loves it and is responsible for front of house as well as the background work. He also looks after the garden and is chief washer up.
