Melbury Vale is a family owned, working vineyard and winery. Set in rural farmland with views over Melbury Hill and the vineyard, but still only 1.5 miles from Shaftesbury town. The owner planted the vineyard in 2006 and built the winery into the hillside with a wild flower meadow roof and rainwater harvesting system, adjacent to the vineyard, in 2013. Tours, wine tastings and lunch can be booked on most Fridays/Saturdays. Shared guest WCs/walk in shower-rooms are situated in the main winery building. We only have 3 glamping barrels on site, each sleeping 2 adults (only), to keep your stay exclusive and peaceful. Kitchen facilities are shared by guests in our gypsy caravan, complete with utensils, crockery, fridge, toaster, kettle and microwave. The giant timber glamping barrels are great fun to stay in, offering a timber double sleeping platform (mattresses and bedding are NOT provided, we believe guests prefer their own), inside and outside seating, set on a hillside terrace, close to the kitchen caravan, outside picnic/BBQ area and winery WCs/walk in showers. Each glamping barrel has a log fire brazier available and solar lights.

Welcome to Melbury Vale Vineyard and Winery. We have owned the land since 2003, planted the vineyard and built the winery with friends and family. The owner Clare is a wine-maker and distiller, lives on site, and is passionate about the lifestyle and artisan products created in this beautiful, rural location. Enjoying the wildlife, peace, hard work, relaxation and of course the wine! We are situated in the valley just south of the Saxon hilltop town of Shaftesbury, Dorset, with its Abbey ruins and the famous cobbled Gold Hill, which is just over a mile away and has all the usual amenities; shops, supermarket, restaurants, cafes and bars. Our vineyard looks out over Melbury Hill, which is great for keen walkers and ramblers. The Compton Abbas airfield and café is only a couple of miles away; and we are less than an hours drive from the Dorset Jurassic coastline with Lulworth Cove., Stone Henge, Longleat, Stourhead, Kingston Lacey, Hauser and Wirth Art Gallery, The Newt (gardens) and Salisbury.
