Milliner's Cottage, in the centre of the historic market town of Pocklington, is a short stroll from shops, restaurants, pubs, theatre, and cinema. A perfect base for visiting historic York (an easy bus ride) or for walking or cycling in the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds. A wood burning stove and Combi boiler with power shower make the cottage cosy and comfortable all year round. While this authentic Victorian cottage has original fireplaces, sliding sash windows and items of antique furniture, the recliner sofas and Victorian style beds are new, with crisp cotton bedding and pocket sprung mattresses for a perfect night's sleep. There is also high speed broadband, and the TV has Netflix, iPlayer, All4 and ITVHub, so you needn't miss your favourite shows while you are on holiday! There's a toy cupboard, books and games for all ages and a fully equipped kitchen with good knives, oil and seasonings, tea and coffee and milk in the fridge. We also supply towels, linen and toiletries. Outside is a private garden with a decked seating area lit by fairy lights, and there is free on-street parking in the street outside.

We have been welcoming guests to Pocklington for seven years now and really enjoy making each cottage as cozy and well-stocked as can be, so you can start to relax and enjoy your break from the moment you step through the door. Although the cottage is in a quiet street it is only a two minute stroll from the centre of town. There you will find a number of good cafés, pubs and restaurants to suit all tastes. If you prefer to cook then there are also plenty of independent food shops or, for a bigger shop, there's Aldi and Sainsbury's a small walk further on. Many guests enjoy the 3 mile walk up onto the Wolds, where there are fine views to be had over the Vale of York, and a nice coffee shop at the half way point! There's a map of the walk in the cottage and, if walking is what you've come for, we'd be happy to discuss the many other great walks to be had in this pretty yet uncrowded part of Yorkshire. This is a great base from which to explore the East Coast, the Wolds and the Howardian Hills, and of course it is perfect for exploring the historic City of York (a bus makes the 13 mile journey in about half and hour). You can spend the day in York then escape the crowds for an evening meal back in Pocklington followed by a cosy fire at the cottage (or a glass of your favourite tipple under fairy lights on the decking in Summer).
