So where to begin, I was born and grew up in Somerset but had moved away to live in Leeds in my early twenties. Buying a new house and changing career path wasn't even on my agenda but the house that I have loved since I was a little girl came up for sale and the rest as they say is history before I knew it I had sold my house in Leeds and moved myself and two cats back to Somerset. The house needed a lot of work and TLC, it hadn't been updated for a long time and the renovations took almost 14 months! Rewiring, new plumbing, knocking down walls and putting them back up you name it, we did it. Once the builders had shipped out the fun stuff began. It felt like I had unknowingly been in training to design the B&B for years, growing up we had been carted round car boot sales all around the South West, nipped in to charity shops, reclamation yards and flea markets at any opportunity. We had a great foundation of beautiful second hand things but enjoyed adding auction houses to our week to find some of the final touches. I live in the house on my own with my three cats and in my spare time I am a part time shepherdess to a flock of Zwartble ewes.
Mount Pleasant Farm is a detached Somerset longhouse, parts of which date back to the 16th century, set in an acre of semi-wild garden. We are located off a rural lane on the outskirts of Chapel Allerton, a pretty village in the heart of the Somerset countryside. The village is home to a beautiful 13th century church and a local pub, that’s just a few minutes walk from our B&B. We are also less than three miles from the picturesque village of Wedmore, home to some lovely shops, pubs and other eateries.
