Oaktree Cottage has easy accessibility to London via a high-speed train. Gatwick Airport is 62.6 miles and Heathrow Airport 84 miles away.
This is the perfect place to stop if you are on your way to or from nearby Dover or Folkestone. It's close to the M20 and within easy distance of London. The high-speed train also connects directly to London from Ashford (station 5 miles away and can be reached by bus). The velux windows in this luxury suite provide beautiful views of the surrounding countryside in three directions and provide a cooling through-draft in summer. There is a twin bedroom with en-suite shower facilities and space to accommodate pets. There is permanent bedding for two (either as twin singles or joined together as super-king), with an additional double sofa bed provided. Further mattresses or a cot can be added on request. The family home has gardens and paddock which you are welcome to enjoy. There are number of fruit trees and bushes. Provided the fruit is eaten on-site, guests may pick at will. The two resident dogs are called Mo and Zoar - they are peaceable and usually well-behaved. Throw Mo a stick and he'll be your faithful friend. You'll find the property relaxed and quiet, with abundant wildlife and views of the North Downs. The fridge will be stocked prior to your arrival with buffet items.
Welcome to Oaktree Cottage! This is a family home, but run with hospitality much in mind. Although I'm a General Practitioner by training, I prefer the quiet life and have set up this Bed & Breakfast as well as a second-hand book business from the property. I specialise in Protestant and Reformation literature as will be evident from the contents of the bookshelves. My level of availability is somewhat dictated by whether my five children are resident with me at the time. If they are, you'll hear a bit of family noise, but nothing too distressing. If you're staying on a weekday, the household tends to rise at 7am. It is my desire to give you my very best and I hope this is reflected in the suite which has been furnished in order to be homely and engaging. The inventory contains some of my favourite possessions. I trust my guests to take care of the little luxuries and have thus far not been disappointed. I also aim to be flexible and responsive to any requests or peculiar needs you might have, whether related to sleeping arrangements, pets, diet, unusual booking hours, extra guests, cleaning requirements or laundry etc. Do try to communicate any such preferences in advance.
The house is set at the foot of the North Downs in Kent, which is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There's an excellent network of public footpaths in the area and cycling is also popular here. The village of Brabourne Lees is under a mile away to the South and that of East Brabourne is a similar distance to the East. Brabourne Lees has a local Spar which can be used for basic groceries. There is a 24hr Tesco Extra about 10 minutes away at Junction 10 of the M20 - we use this for almost all our shopping and petrol. There are a few local pubs. The Woolpack in Brabourne Lees is more affordable and run by an enthusiastic family. The Five Bells Inn is a beautiful and independently owned pub in East Brabourne, which serves excellent food and is a little more classy.
