Oban Seil farm is a beautiful farm with water front on The Island of Seil. We are connected to the mainland by a small bridge and we have the most spectacular views over Seil Sound to the South and form the hill behind the farm over Mull and many other islands. We have lived here for over thirty years and we have a wealth of knowledge we’d like to share with our guests. We have sheep on the farm and hens running happy and freely around. On the shore we have a place for your boats and kayaks. We have had so many fantastic times on the shore with our kids, swimming, stone skimming, playing pirates, barbecuing. Our shore is a huge part of what we love about this little paradise and we know that the shore is part of what makes us stand out from other places.

We are Nick and Bette Hunter, we have lived here most of our married life over 33 years. Our four children grew up here and over the years we have all developed a deep sense of belonging to this part of the world. We love walking in the mountains of Glencoe and beyond, and we love sailing and messing about on the waters around the West Coast of Scotland.

Isle of Seil belongs to the slate islands Luing Seil, Easdale and Belnahua. These islands were the centre of the Scottish slate industry in the 18th and 19th century and in all the islands we still have the tiny houses where the slate workers used to live. Island hopping is one of the many things we recommend you do if you have time or inclination to leave the farm. Visiting Whisky distilleries is another option as are exhilarating boat trips out to the world famous Corrywreckan whirl pools. If you feel real plush take a day trip on the 6 seater plane out to Colonsay and get an experience of a lifetime flying over all the small islands. Go eagle spotting on one of the boat trips. Or just go for a wander up the hill at night and watch the sunset, perhaps take a bottle of wine with you, watch the stars and the moon rise. It is free and just as memorable as anything that costs you money. Further afield, being in Argyll means you can walk up a mountain in Glencoe less than an hour away north of here and going south you can drive to Kilmartin and see the standing stones that are more than 3000 years old and have.
