Old Orchard is a small B&B in the tranquil village of Froggatt in the Peak District National Park. It has lovely views across the village to the hills beyond. Our rooms are ensuite with TV and tea/coffee making facilities. We provide a full English breakfast together with cereals, fruit, yoghurt and fruit juices and there is free WiFi throughout the house.
We moved to the area in 2017 from Suffolk after spending many holidays here over the years. We have always enjoyed walking in the gorgeous scenery here and have not got tired of it yet! We have extensively renovated the house and look forward to welcoming guests here.
The area is a walkers paradise with many walks directly from the house. It is just off the Derwent Valley Heritage Trail which runs from Ladybower Reservoir through the Peak District National Park via Chatsworth and the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site to the River Trent near Shardlow. Looking up from the house is Froggatt Edge which is popular with climbers and is a fantastic viewpoint across the Derwent valley. It is a short drive to Chatsworth House, the village of Castleton with its caves, or the pretty town of Bakewell. There are several National Trust houses in the area and attractions such as the Heights of Abraham. The cities of Sheffield and Manchester are 20 minutes and one hour away by train from Grindleford station (1.5 miles away). The nearest place to eat is The Chequers, a pub/restaurant about 10 minutes walk away. The nearest village of Calver has 3 pubs, the Derwentwater Arms, the Eyre Arms and the Bridge Inn. These are 5 minutes by car or a pleasant 1.1 -1.5 miles walk beside the river. There are many, many more places to eat in other villages nearby.
